Businesses to Start for Free
If you have no money to spare but want to start a business, there are some businesses you can start with no money. Some of these ideas may require bit of fuel, but that is the only expense that they have.
Writing
Writing is a business that does not have to cost a lot of money to get started with. The first thing though is that you have to actually like writing, if you hated English class in school it is likely not a good choice for you. You can do this part time, full time or any other amount of time you want to each week. If you need some assistance with some aspects of writing, you can find a lot of information on the Internet or you can borrow books from the library.
House or Pet Sitting
This business doesn’t cost you anything but a bit of gas and possibly some advertising, but you can advertise on free classified websites. One problem with this business is that it can be a bit difficult to get started with as it involves trust but if you can get friends to pass your name out it shouldn’t be too much of an issue. You can also create a free website or a Facebook page to promote your services and hopefully get more clients.
Note: You should look into insurance in case something happens so that will keep this from being 100% free, especially pet sitting. House sitting should already have insurance but you will want to check.
Typing
There are many people that need things typed up for them but do not have the ability as they do not know how to use a computer or they do not have access to one. Sometimes students need assistance with typing up their papers due to the amount of work that is involved with typing multiple page documents and formatting them. Chances are if you are reading this you have a computer so you just need to find clients.
Sell your Items
If you have a lot of things hanging out in your house that you do not need, you can sell them to help finance any business that you want to get into. Even with only $50 in your pocket, you can get started into some more interesting businesses than you can for free. You would be amazed how much you can make just selling things from around your home.
Be an Assistant
There are many things you can do to help other businesses out there. Try contacting businesses in your city to see if they need any help in regards to customer service. Chances are they do not have much time to contact customers to see how they feel about their visit or how the product is working for them. Ask what information they want to know and make phone calls. You will then have to put the results together for them. You can charge per the call made, by how many people you talk to, or any other metric you agree on.
Be aware that if you are browsing the classified ads or the internet for free businesses you can start at home, that there are a lot of scams out there. Make sure you do your research into the validity of the offer and be careful.
